I think I'm doing pretty well this year so far with checking things off my Cape Town bucket list but as a Captonian I embarrassingly still have a quite a way to go.
Anyways, cycling along the Seapoint promenade is a great activity for a sunny weekend afternoon and something I plan on doing more frequently. Some friends and I rented bikes from Upcycles and spent an hour cruising along the sea front. We started and ended at the Seapoint swimming pools but Upcycles has various drop off points around town including at the V&A Waterfront and in Camps Bay. The rental prices start from R50 for 1 hour.
I haven't been on a bike, well apart from a spinning bike, for nearly a year when I last rented a bike and cycled along the Han River in Seoul. These rented bikes took a bit of getting used to because the brake is a back peddle but thankfully I didn't have any accidents.
It was such a warm autumn's afternoon and we all had a great time soaking up the sunshine, taking in the views and enjoying the vibe along the promenade. Living in the south of Cape Town, I don't come to 'town' that often, but I really enjoy it when I do.
After our hour was up we stopped for some snacks at the stalls near the Seapoint pool. Of course an ice cream was in order too. We sat on the benches until it started getting chilly and then it was time to go.
Next on my list will be doing a slightly longer ride, maybe around to Camps Bay.
Have you been cycling along the Seapoint promenade? What activities do you enjoy in Cape Town?
